Art Exhibit Opening

Sunday, December 2: Opening reception for the art exhibit, The Ocean is Black and Blue, works on paper by Michael Torlen, 3-5 p.m. in the Gallery. Everyone welcome.

Programs for Children

Wednesday, November 28: Young Critics book discussion of “The Castle in the Attic,” for children in grades 5 – 7 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room. Pizza will be served. Call 594-5002 to register.
Friday, November 30: “1, 2, Buckle My Shoe” for babies and toddlers up to the age of 2, at 10 a.m. in the Children’s Program Room.
Sunday: December 2: Children’s author, Randall De Sève, reads her new picture book, “Toy Boat” at 2 p.m. in the Children’s program Room. Co-sponsored by Elm Street Books. Call 594-5002 to register.

Wednesday, November 28: A discussion of Philip Roth’s “The Plot Against America,” part of the “Terrorism and Takeovers” book discussion series sponsored by the Connecticut Humanities Council. 7:30 p.m. in the Plaut Room.

Monday, November 26: Great Decisions discussion of Mexico, led by Eileen Heaphy, Former Executive Director of the World Affairs Forum at 7 p.m. in the Plaut Room.

Tom Brokaw

Sunday, November 4: Tom Brokaw will deliver the 2007 Richard Salant Memorial Lecture this Sunday at 5 p.m. at the New Canaan High School. Doors open at 4 p.m. Registration for this event is closed, as it is full to capacity. Elm Street Books will be present to take orders for Mr. Brokaw's new book, Boom: Voices of the Sixties, which will be released on Tuesday, November 6. Mr. Brokaw has signed bookplates in advance for books ordered at this event. Call 594-5003 for information.
