Celebrate National Library Week - April 13-19

We have something for everyone during this week of special programming.

Monday, April 13:
An Introduction to Baby Sign Language*
Presenter Eileen Baker will introduce a new method of helping babies & toddlers communicate with their parents. For babies 6 to 24 months of age and their parents. From 1 – 1:45 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room. Registration is required. Register online or call 594-5002.

Wednesday, April 15: Author Jane Hamilton will discuss her new book, “Laura Rider’s Masterpiece,” at noon in the Lamb Room. Lunch will be served. Register online or call 594-5003 to make a reservation.

Thursday, April 16: Green Thumbs: Plant Stories & Planting Project*
An extra special storytime for children ages 3 to 7 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room. Registration is required. Children will listen to planting stories and each child will plant nasturtium seeds in their very own pot to take home. Call 594-5002 for information.

Open Mic Night
April is Poetry Month. Read your own poetry, your favorite poem, a passage from your favorite book, or play a song. Share what you love with others. At 7 p.m. in the Lamb Room. Refreshments will be provided. Drop-ins welcome, but please register or call ahead - 594-5003 - if you are planning to attend.

Friends Film Discussion - Director’s Series continues with a discussion of two films by directed by John Sayles: “Return of the Seacaucus 7” and “Lone Star” at 7:30 p.m. in the Plaut Room. Pizza and beverages will be served. Register online or call 594-5003 to register.

Friday, April 17: Wild Things Party*
Captivating stories presented by Anna Holbrook, a professional actress and New Canaan resident. A special program designed for children ages 7 & up, 5:30-7 p.m. in the Curtis Gallery. A pizza party will follow. Registration is required. Please call 594-5002 or register online.

Saturday, April 18:
A Spanish/English Storytime for ages 5 to 9 and their parents presented by Ivana Pagani and Librarian Rose Marie Zaharek from 1:30-2:15 pm in the Children’s Program Room. Register online or call 594-5002 to register.

Sunday, April 19: Opening Reception for the Art Exhibit, “Stimulus,” new paintings by Allen Wittert from 3 – 5 p.m. in the Curtis Gallery. Everyone welcome.
