Sunday, November 4: Tom Brokaw will deliver the 2007 Richard Salant Memorial Lecture this Sunday at 5 p.m. at the New Canaan High School. Doors open at 4 p.m. Registration for this event is closed, as it is full to capacity. Elm Street Books will be present to take orders for Mr. Brokaw's new book, Boom: Voices of the Sixties, which will be released on Tuesday, November 6. Mr. Brokaw has signed bookplates in advance for books ordered at this event. Call 594-5003 for information.

Thursday, June 21: Summer Reading Program kicks off with “The Book Detective,” performed by Sparky’s Puppets. 3:30 – 4:15 p.m. in the Lamb Room. Following the program children may sign up for the Summer Reading Club, “Get A Clue @ YOUR LIBRARY.” Play our bingo as you read books over the summer and win fantastic prizes!

LIBRARY BOOK SALE: Great prices on thousands of books!
Artist Leslie Giuliani, whose work in on exhibit at the New Canaan Library through June 25, will give a demonstration of the encaustic technique of painting and collage in the gallery on Friday, June 1 at 11 a.m. This traditional method of painting, carving and incising hot, pigmented wax lends itself to her colorful, sculptural pieces that have their roots in folk art. Everyone is welcome; refreshments will be served.
The New Canaan Inn and the Library are celebrating April as National Poetry Month by highlighting and honoring a Poem of the Day. Saturday, April 21: The Friends of New Canaan Library are pleased to offer our patrons a film viewing and discussion series, which kicks off today. “The Horse’s Mouth,” starring Alec Guiness, begins at 2:00 p.m. in the Lamb Room. Refreshments will be served. Copies of the DVD are also available for loan prior to a discussion of the film on Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Plaut Room. Sunday, April 15: Meet artist Peri Schwartz at the opening reception for her exhibit of paintings, prints and drawings, "Interior Perspectives" from 3 - 5 p.m. in the gallery. Peri is a New York artist, whose work is in American and European Museum Collections, including the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of the City of New York; the Bibliotheque Nationale de France and the British Museum .
Saturday, April 7: “(Not) Just for Kids.” A family program presented by members of the Norwalk Symphony. Children will be introduced to the brass section of the orchestra, 4 p.m. in the Lamb Room.
